Victoria Special Event Permits and Portable Toilets

Planning an event in a City of Victoria park or street? The permit timeline decides when to book restrooms. Here's what the city's own application says.

When do I need a special event permit in Victoria?

You need a City of Victoria special event permit for events in city parks and facilities. Apply with Parks & Recreation (532 McCright Dr) at least 90 days before the event and no more than one year ahead. The application includes a $500 damage deposit and facility fees.

Does the city require portable toilets?

The City of Victoria's application tells organizers to “be prepared to rent port-o-lets” because not every park site has restrooms. How many you need depends on crowd size and hours: plan one unit per 50 guests for four hours, more for longer events and alcohol, and at least 5% accessible.

Use our calculator; we'll put the count and service plan in writing for your application.

What if my event closes a street?

Street closures need a street-blocking permit from the Police Chief, filed at least 10 days ahead, with MUTCD-approved barricades (City Code §22-7). Closures tied to a special event also need sign-off from the Parks Director and Police Chief.

When should I book porta potties?

Book porta potties as soon as your permit is filed, and at least two to four weeks before the event. October (Bootfest month) and spring weekends fill first. Accessible units, deluxe units and trailers are the first to sell out.

Which Victoria events need the most restrooms?

The biggest restroom demand in Victoria comes from Bootfest each October at DeLeon Plaza, ball tournaments at Riverside Park's 15-plus fields, Community Center shows like the Victoria Livestock Show and South Texas Farm & Ranch Show, and summer events at Coleto Creek Park. Each one needs units in clusters and an accessible unit in every cluster.

For park pavilions (DeLeon Plaza, Riverside, Grover's Bend, Ted B. Reed, Hopkins), check the City of Victoria pavilion rental page for which sites already have restrooms.
